  • 1386 - Leopoldian line: Dispute begins between William and Leopold IV
  • 1395 - Albertinian line: Albert IV starts to rule
  • 1402 - Leopoldian line: Ernest and Frederick IV enter the dispute
  • 1404 - Albertinian line: Albert V starts to rule
  • 1406 - Leopoldian line: William I dies, the Leopoldian line splits, the Junior Tyrolean line and the Ernestine line
  • 1439 - Junior Tyrolean line: Sigismund starts to rule
  • 1424 - Ernestine line: Frederick IV starts to rule
  • 1435 - Ernestine line: Frederick IV leaves the throne, the Ernestine line disappears.
  • 1439 - Albertinian line: Albert V dies, no king hiers until 1440
  • 1440 - Albertinian line: Ladislaus I starts to rule
  • 1457 - Albertinian line: After the death of Ladislaus I, the Albertinian line's territories are given to the Leopoldian line
  • 1457 - Leopoldian line: Dispute between Frederick V and Albert VI
  • 1463 - Leopoldian line: Albert VI dies, Frederick V rules
  • 1490 - Maximilian I takes the Junior Tyrolean line
  • 1493 - Maximilian I takes the Leopoldian line, Austria is finally unified under the same Archduchy
  • 1519 - Charles I starts to rule
  • 1521 - Charles I gives the throne to his son Ferdinand I
  • 1564 - Ferdinand I dies, Austria is divided again in: Lower and Upper Austria (Maximilian II), Tyrol and Further Austria (Ferdinand II), Inner Austria (Charles II)
